Carbon Neutral Concrete
At Partanna, simply being carbon-neutral isn't sufficient. With undeniable changes in our climate—regardless of opinions on their cause—how can anyone argue against building materials that are less polluting, more sustainable, stronger, and more cost-effective?
It’s vital that we rethink our approach to building materials and construction practices. The truth is that traditional concrete, while indispensable in modern construction, poses significant environmental challenges due to its manufacture, raw material input, high carbon footprint and even its disposal.
At Partanna, we refuse to accept the status quo. We’re pushing the boundaries of possibility to create a better, more sustainable future for the next generation. Partanna is proud to have created the world’s first carbon-negative concrete.
Whilst a carbon-neutral concrete alternative has been the goal of other organizations, Partanna have raised the bar. Innovating through advanced material science our concrete solution actively removes CO₂ from the atmosphere during the production process and throughout its life cycle. Through our unique blend of recycled ingredients and world-leading chemistry, we've developed a solution that not only reduces carbon emissions but actually reverses them.
Unlike other low CO₂ concrete varieties, our concrete combats climate change while still delivering the strength and durability expected of traditional concrete.
Join us as we revolutionize the construction industry and pave the way towards a greener, more sustainable tomorrow. Together, we can build a world where environmental responsibility and construction excellence go hand in hand.
With us, every concrete block, slab and tile is a step towards a brighter future.

The Harmful Effects of Traditional Concrete
Traditional concrete is an essential material in modern construction with over 30 billion tons used a year. However, accounting for almost 9% of global carbon emissions, concrete production is a key factor in driving the climate crisis.
The primary harmful effect stems from the production process itself, which relies heavily on cement – a key ingredient in concrete – known for its exceptionally high carbon footprint.
Furthermore, the extraction of raw materials for concrete, such as limestone and sand, often involves destructive mining practices that destroy natural habitats and ecosystems. This process is contributing to record habitat loss and disrupting delicate ecological balances, endangering biodiversity.
The transportation of these raw materials and the finished concrete products over long distances further worsens carbon emissions, contributing to air pollution and accelerating climate change.
From extraction to production to transport, concrete is damaging our world. Partanna was born from our desire to turn concrete production on its head and strive to be better than carbon-neutral.
There is an urgent need for sustainable alternatives, including carbon-free concrete. If you’re a developer, planner or builder wanting to make a difference, our better-than-carbon-neutral concrete is the solution for your projects.
What is Carbon-Neutral Concrete?
Carbon-neutral concrete is a step towards offsetting the environmental impact of traditional concrete production. This innovative approach aims to offset the carbon emissions generated during manufacturing, typically by implementing carbon offsetting measures or incorporating alternative materials.
One common method used to achieve carbon neutrality in concrete production is through the use of supplementary cement materials like fly ash, slag, or silica fume. These materials serve as partial replacements for traditional cement, which is a major source of CO₂ emissions in concrete production. By reducing the amount of cement used and incorporating Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs), we can start to reduce our carbon emissions.
Another approach to creating low CO₂ concrete is carbon offsetting. By investing in projects that capture or reduce an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide emitted during the production of their carbon-neutral concrete floor slabs and other products, the carbon is offset. These projects include reforestation, renewable energy projects, and direct carbon capture and storage technologies.
Whilst this kind of CO₂ mineralised concrete is an important first step towards sustainability in the construction industry, we also have to acknowledge its limitations, which is why we pushed our technology further. Despite efforts to offset carbon emissions, carbon-neutral concrete still relies on cement, a material with many more environmental drawbacks than just carbon dioxide release.

The Benefits of Our Carbon-Negative Concrete
At Partanna, our carbon-negative concrete offers huge benefits that set it apart from other low CO₂ concrete solutions as a truly sustainable and environmentally friendly building material.
Environmental Responsibility
Partanna’s carbon-negative concrete actively absorbs CO₂ from the atmosphere, effectively reducing the carbon footprint of construction projects. Every structure built with our concrete not only emits fewer greenhouse gasses but also contributes to the overall removal of CO₂, making a positive impact on the fight against climate change.
Recycled Ingredients
Partanna’s innovative blend of recycled materials, including brine and slag, helps to repurpose waste products from industries like desalination and steel production, reducing the need for virgin materials and minimizing environmental harm.
Excellent Performance
Aside from its eco-friendly properties, our carbon-negative concrete boasts the same level of quality, durability, and structural integrity as traditional concrete. This ensures that buildings and infrastructure constructed with our concrete meet and exceed industry standards, while also providing long-lasting performance and reliability, even in areas prone to natural disasters.
Circular Economy
Partanna’s commitment to the circular economy means that at the end of its lifecycle, our CO₂ absorbing concrete can be easily crushed and reused as aggregate, further minimizing waste and closing the loop on sustainability.
Versatility
Partanna’s concrete is highly versatile, making it suitable for a wide range of projects ranging from residential buildings to pavements, highways and bridges.
Marine-Friendly
Partanna’s carbon-negative concrete doesn’t degrade in seawater, making it perfect for constructing artificial reefs. With such projects, our concrete provides a habitat for marine life and promotes biodiversity and environmental conservation.
Overall, choosing Partanna's carbon-negative concrete over other CO₂ mineralised concrete alternatives means choosing a building material that not only meets the highest standards of performance but also actively contributes to a greener, healthier planet.
Join us in building a sustainable future, one concrete block at a time.

The Better Than Carbon-Neutral Concrete Alternative
At Partanna, we’ve taken a revolutionary approach to construction materials with our carbon-negative concrete – a superior alternative to traditional and carbon-neutral concrete.
Rather than conventional carbon neutral and carbon offsetting measures, our carbon-negative concrete actively removes CO₂ from the atmosphere during and after production.
Our innovative process begins with a blend of recycled materials, including brine and steel slag -byproducts of industries notorious for their environmental harm. Through advanced chemistry, these materials are combined without the need for the clinkering process, triggering chemical reactions that actively absorb CO₂ emissions. That means, just like the natural process of photosynthesis in trees, our concrete breathes carbon dioxide.
What sets our carbon-negative concrete apart is its ability to not only reduce, but reverse carbon emissions. As CO₂ is absorbed into the mixture, it undergoes chemical transformations, forming a groundbreaking binding agent that replaces traditional cement while leaving a minimal ecological footprint.
Furthermore, our carbon-negative concrete offers the same level of quality, durability, and structural integrity as traditional concrete, ensuring that sustainability doesn't come at the expense of performance.
By choosing Partanna's carbon-negative concrete, you're not just selecting a building material – you're actively choosing to help build a greener, more sustainable future.
